In nation-building, engineers design, develop, and maintain products, systems, and equipment that benefit people and the nation. The world economy is in the process of being renovated and modernized, which in turn increases consumption patterns and increases demand. Consequently, quality control is becoming increasingly important at all levels of production. In order to effectively manage today's complex issues in national development, engineers must recognize their responsibility and play an effective role.


By providing social amenities, infrastructure facilities, job creation, security, and many more, engineers play a vital role in making a nation habitable for its citizens. They are therefore responsible for designing products, machines, and plants to manufacture these products and systems. Additionally, they contribute greatly to the development of the economy of a country through their diverse roles in society. Engineers can have a significant impact on infrastructure development, government policies, agricultural productivity, environmental sustainability, disaster management, ethical and social responsibilities, as well as many other fields that are critical to the progress of any country. In order for a society to have a balanced economy, engineers must utilize indigenous resources for high-tech innovations. They should also be prepared to take on the management responsibilities of the project.

Though India is still considered to be a developing country, it has become one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Over the past few years, India's gross domestic product (GDP) has grown rapidly. Engineering is by far the largest sector of Indian industry. 27% of the total factories in the Indian industrial sector are involved in the engineering sector. Approximately 63% of the engineering sector's share is derived from foreign collaborations. Aside from this, India also offers a large number of opportunities in the field of engineering services. By the year 2020, it is anticipated that the Engineering Process Outsourcing market will grow by USD 40 billion. As a result of the development of related sectors such as automotive, industrial goods and infrastructure, in conjunction with a well-developed pool of technical human resources, engineering exports are on the rise.

Among developing countries, India offers the best combination of low costs, skill availability, and manpower capabilities. Engineering is one of the most rewarding professions. A figment of imagination can be transformed into a plan on paper through the use of science. In the next step, it is transformed into stone, metal, or energy. As a result, it provides men with jobs and homes. In addition, it elevates the standard of living and enhances the quality of life. Thus, engineers enjoy this high level of privilege.
