Soon, robots will be doing everything for us!

For years we have been hearing about how robots are our future and how they will make our lives easier. Well, look no further! Technology has caught up with our aspirations and this dream is now a reality. Here are 5 types of humanoids that are soon going to help ease and automate our lives and careers!

Avatar robots

Toyota introduced the T-HR3 in 2017 which is a humanoid robot. It replicates and mimics human movements of its operator. It was created as a mobility service but they are predicted to be able to change the game by partaking in complex functions such as conducting surgery!

Sophia: The ambassador of robots

Sophia is a popular social humanoid known by many as she looks extremely human-like and can laugh, talk, move, sing, draw and emote. She was developed by Hanson Robotics, based in Hong Kong. She is now four years old and is continuing to help us humans research and advance in the field of robotics.

Robot-led delivery services

Ford created ‘Digit’, an agile robot, back in January 2020. It is a headless robot with nimble limbs and has various sensors across its body. This humanoid is able to go up and down the stairs, go around various obstacles and terrains. It is able to walk upright and can balance on one foot. It can fold itself into a compact object for easier storage and can lift and stack boxes up to approximately 18 kgs. It is meant to automate delivery processes for us humans.

Space robots

The female Indian robot Vyommitra is scheduled to fly to space in December 2020 on an uncrewed space exploration adventure. They will conduct microgravity experiments with her to help prepare her for crewed space flights. Another such robot was Fedor or Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research, a Russian humanoid, remote-controlled, who travelled to the ISS or International Space Station in 2019. NASA’s Johnson Space Center has also developed numerous humanoids, such as the Robonaut 2 and Valkyrie. Humanoids will advance space exploration greatly as we have a higher chance of developing prototypes what will be able to endure harsh environments beyond Earth.

Robot teachers

Yup, they’ve thought of everything! Soon we may have robots that will help educate the next generation of thought leaders. Pepper by SoftBank Robotics is a humanoid that is able to read our emotions and react accordingly. They have incorporated an educational integrated development environment or IDE termed Tethys that teaches how to code. Pepper can be programmed to talk, signal, move and show messages on a screen in real-time.

The field of Robotics is sure to make for a brighter future for the human race. K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research recognises this and has introduced a new course for the academic year 2020-21, Robotics and Automation that will groom students to develop engineering marvels such as the ones listed above!
